Miss Paula is the director of Fancy Feet and has been in the dance industry for more than 45 years as a performer, choreographer, and teacher in South Carolina, North Carolina, and New York. She is a member of Dance Educators of America and Professional Dance Teachers of America. She has choreographed the Mommy, I Can Dance video series, Mrs. South Carolina America Pageants, many commercials, an International Show Team, as well as numerous nationally award winning routines throughout the years. Most recently, her studio was featured on the WE Network reality show, “Little Miss Perfect”. She has taught as a master class teacher up and down the east coast and judged dancers all over the Unitd States. A mother of three professional dancers, a grandmother to a granddaughter who already shows a passion for dance, and a teacher for more than 40 years, it is evident that the important role an educator plays in a young person’s life is uppermost in her teaching philosophy.

Treshawn began dancing and performing at the early age of 2. She has over 20 years of experience teaching and choreographing beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of dance for both children and adults. Her earliest influences began at Deirdre School of Dance and Gymnastics and New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA). Throughout her 30 plus years of dance training, she has studied intensively in the art of ballet, tap, jazz, Horton-modern, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, and Pointe. She has had the opportunity to travel across the United States studying different styles of dance, as well as teaching. Treshawn has studied at the Broadway Dance Center, was an invited dancer for the 1992 Olympic Track and Field Trials Opening Ceremonies, and has performed for the Delta Festival Nutcracker. She’s also had the honor of performing for Actor and Comedian, Bill Cosby. As well as dancing alongside Actor, tap dance performer, and Tony Award nominated dancer, Savion Glover. As a choreographer her choreography has won many Regional and National Competition awards.

Ms. Megan has been dancing since the age of two. She became a competitive dancer in tap and jazz at the age of eight and continued to study ballet as well, as a young child. She began advancing in tap as she worked consistently and whole-heartedly with tap legend, Jason Janas. Ms. Megan attended and danced in the legendary Mike Minery’s off-broadway shoe Slide, where she performed in New York City.She was chosen as a principal soloist both years and was honored to dance in the faculty performance, as well. At only the age of 17, Ms. Megan was invited to join the professional traveling tap troupe, Tapaholics, created by Mike Minery.Most recently, in December 2011, Megan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with her Bachelor’s degree in dance, where she was also a member of the UNCG dance team. Megan’s achievements as a teacher can be seen through her work and multiple awards for choreography. She is excited to embark on this new adventure at Fancy Feet and looks forward to working with all new faces!

Lisa has had over 20 years of dance training in various studios around North Carolina and has trained at Broadway Dance Center in New York. She has also competed in many National Dance Championships. Lisa has appeared in The Union County Players production of ‘A Chorus Line.’ She has been a part of Fancy Feet staff as both a gymnastics coach and a dance instructor for almost two decades. Her teaching style is both fun and educational.

Kristen Baughn Director of Floor Gymnastics & Acro

Kristen has been with Fancy Feet Dance Studios since she was five years old. She competed with the Elite Competition team, winning numerous awards during her school age days. She began teaching both dance and gymnastics at age 15. She attended
Butler High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader, and the captain her junior and senior years. Once she completed high school, she left for a while to attend Appalachian State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. As captain of her cheerleading squad her junior year, she led her team to Nationals in Orlando, Florida. She married her college sweetheart, and teacher at Harrisburg Elementary. She now has two beautiful children, Kailey and Kody. Kailey now competes with the Elite Competition team, while Kristen now teaches recreational dance classes and gymnastics.

Chelsea has years of dancing at an early age and was a member of an elite competition through out her high schoJesis s. Chelsea possesses a love of movement that she incorporates into her classes-a passion she developed at an early age through extensive studies in the performing arts and over a decade of studying ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary dance. Building on this love, Chelsea has embraced the practice of Yoga for the intrinsic mind-body connection that it offers, demonstrated in the graceful nature and challenging exercises that the classical Yoga repertoire is based upon.

Jessica Mantekasa Pointe Instructor

Jessica begin her journey in the arts at the age of 3 years old and attended Fancy Feet Dance Studio with Ms. Paula Mann for several years. Additional training on ballet and pointe took place with the Charlotte School of Ballet and training with the Royal Academy of Ballet. With years of intense training Jessica was asked to perform in Sleeping Beauty, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Swan Lake and many more touring performances. After many years of Joffrey Ballet program Jessica has returned home to work with Ms. Paula at Charlotte Dance Alliance. In her spare time, Jessica is completing her goal of becoming an attorney focusing on family law and will be graduating from the Charlotte School of Law in spring 2018.

Makayla has an extensive background in hip hop, but also has trained in jazz, tap and lyrical and has appeared in numerous television performing hip hop throughout several states.Live stage appearances and on the big screen are only a few of highlights Makayla brings to the our studio family- working alongside great hip hop artist such as Willdabeast Adams, KK Harris and many other nationally known artists will allow our hip hop program to exceed expectations.
